I love that scene in the movie with Schwarzenegger, the music is awesome.

He-Man and the Shadow Beasts

This warm up from today might turn into a painting.
It is kinda a rip off from the cover Joe Jusko did for Warlord of Mars.
He is a great artist and this image of his sparked the idea for this sketch (and hopefully a painting in the future... but so less time)

Hello and Welcome to my first Video Tutorial.
Sad thing is, it is german, because i got asked by a german guy if i could make a tutial of how i did the Snake Mountain Illustration.
But, maybe you can figure out what i did. Sometimes the pop up menues are visible.

Snake Mountain

The linework is part of a commission, but i felt i had to make a little illustration out of it and painted a bit.

Litte idea

Not really my idea, i guess some illustrations like that are in the world. But this is the sketch of my version on Skeletor on his Throne.

I have won a contest

Today i received a package, i wondered: "what the hell? i didn't order anything..."
The postguy was smiling all the time, probably about my bewildered look on the face.
Anyways, i read who send it "Miracle images"... i could not guess who that is, so i got me my scalpell and cut it open like a corpse, and opened it with my retractor arms and i found a not above alle the paperstuff.
It read:
"Mighty Congratulations!"

And then i flew over the text and saw it had to do with star wars, i ripped the paper aside and found the boxes that you can see down there.
I flipped, that was somehting. I totally forgot about the contest i participated ages ago, 5 month ago to be precise.



The cool thing is, you can see my contest entry in the magazine, if you can pick up the german star wars das offizielle magazin #62 on July the 6th.
But maybe you can't, so here is a small version of it:

King Hisss - Pencils

In this post i will update from time to time the development of my pencils of King Hisss. As step by step so to speak.


Here is the next, found a little time to continue.



Today i build something in 3D. I wasn't sure about the light and shadows in the drawing, and sinse i can't take photos of a real staff with the light and shadows, i had to come up with something else. So the computer helped me define light and shadow.
I build the primitive after the reference of the toy, so it looks different than the one in the preview drawing. Maybe i change that.
Here is the rendering:

King Hiss

This is the King of the Snakes, in an Alex Ross kinda way. This digital illustration is my guideline for light and shading for the real drawing, wich i start in a few days.

Skull

This Skull is painted with traditional tools on real paper... i have to mention that, for the most images posted here are digital.

For a commission i am trying to adapt the drawing style of Alex Ross. He paints his pages in a traditional way, and i think they look just awesome.

After trying out several papers i could find, here is an attempt on bristol board. At last the right kind of paper that i need for the job.
Now i have to practice more.












And here a little tweeking on the levels in Photoshop, but in the end, i have to manage to get those contrast in the real painting:

This is a sketch, or more, two sketches, in a manner of Alex Ross' Paintings of the Avengers and the Justice League.
The idea came through a commission were that style was asked for.
I will post it, when it it finished.

These 2 sketches are just ideas, i have some more for some characters, so it this is like a guide.

Jay Leno Portrait - Part 1

This is a portrait of the Late Night Talk Show host Jay Leno.
My mom and i liked to watch him, and i still do from time to time. He is totally cool. And because i am on a little fair today and do some caricatures, i hope, if nobody wants one, then i have an easy day in the sun... anyways, i tried some prominet guys, but i can't scan at the moment, so i drew him again in photoshop within 15 minutes, most of the time i did the shading, and i had to stop me from shading anything more than that what i did... That is why this is part one, i hope i can finish him in a completed digital painting soon.

He-Man - Episode 19

This image was inspired by an review someoene did on a Masters of the Universe plattform. It was about a different episode, but in there was episode 19 - Quest for He-Man mentioned and in german the episode is called "He-man auf der der Strasse" what is translated "He-man on the street", and my imagination kicked in.

Shadow Weaver - Update

Here is an update to the woman in red from last year... wow, is that so long ago?
Man, anyways, i painted a bit on top of the old design for changes.
I made it brighter, my webbrowser displayed it very dark, so i lightened it up for people to see.

A little commissionwork i did. It was fun to do and hope some other do too.

The Green Goddoss with Double D

And the final image.
This is based of a sentence i wrote to somebody, he kept saying "the green goodess", and i wrote, "It is goddess, with double d" and an image sprang in my mind.
Long story short, i painted her, took me a while, i had to do several breaks in between for other work. But it was fun and this is the result.
For the background, i wasn't sure what to do at first, a kinda rocky landscape and then i came up with the word "stage", and so i made it a stage. Another little exercise in painting.
